Can someone elaborate on this pls? It might be as simple as it seems to be, but its certainly not easy. Anyone done this before? asked 19 Jan '11, 09:18 Hitesh Barry Allen ♦♦

Here is how this has worked for me. It was a time when I had a new-born baby, our fourth child. My husband became unemployed. We lived off of our savings until we had no rent money for the upcoming month. It was all too much to handle with my husband feeling depressed. I knew if I went looking for a job the whole family would fall apart since my husband wasn't capable of handling the kids. It came to me that the only thing I could do is the job I was meant to do at that time, caring for my family by being there in all the ways I was meant to be. I remember fear briefly gripping me at the idea of what may become of us, then that fear was replaced by a certainty that no matter what happens, even if we end up at a homeless shelter, our family would still be together and that's the only thing that matters. When I realized I had absolutely no fear for the future and knew all will be well no matter the material condition, I thought to myself, I'll carry on my job of caring for this family to the best of my ability, the rest I give to God to handle for me. And went on with my daily chores, didn't even lose sleep over what will become of us. A week, maybe 10 days later, my husband was offered a high-paying job! Thank you, namaste answered 19 Jan '11, 15:31 daniele This is an excellent testimony, I deeply enjoyed this, Thanks Daniele

Ahh but there in lays the beauty of this life, we believe we have to figure out things. Here is an example I'll use math we have a problem and write it out on paper and work all of the calculations out on paper until we reach the answer. Now for just a moment think what worked out the answer, my brain of course right. But is the brain capable of functioning faster than that? I sure hope so or we wouldn't be able to do much of anything, so is our brain making billions of calculations everyday? Just to function just for me to type this must take astronomical calculations at instant speed! So calculations seems no matter how fast too slow. It has to be something else then maybe mind functions through the brain and maybe mind does no calculations because it is not bound by time so to us locked in time we can only say mind just "knows" it needs no calculations, it knows. Now if mind already knows not only the problem but as well the solution to the problem then in reality the problem is moot. It is just that we being in time do not know that we can change our experience by knowing it is different. We need that trust as innocent as a child and the authority and command of a five star general, and here is the kicker we already have both, we just don't know it. Think of when the general said to Jesus "I command great armies I say go and they go I say come and they come. Jesus you surely have greater authority than I." Jesus responded he had never seen such faith in all the lands he had visited, "go your friend is healed now." We gain even more and greater when we accept Jesus, it is like an assurance that we have the power, authority and faith because we have something so much greater than ourselves within us to believe in. It may be hard to believe in ourselves but when we say "I am nothing it is Christ within me that does these works, he is all powerful and controls everything, through him I have authority over everything." When we become meek we become more powerful, and knowing, and amazing than we could ever imagine because we squash the little I am to let the true I AM live in us. We just need to believe and trust, I just bought a banjo on Sunday and by the next day I was playing it like I had been playing for years. I had never played a banjo before, I did this with Keyboard and with Violin before the same way. The reason is I look at the instrument with wonder and amazement not with fear and worry that I need to "learn" how to play, something in me says "you know how to play this, now just play and enjoy!" answered 19 Jan '11, 16:07 Wade Casaldi Just had a "clicking" moment in my brain thanks to your answer. :)

The fifty‐fifth Psalm, to cast thy burden upon the Lord: Well I can recall my mother saying, if God would provide for the birds in the air, he would indeed provide for his children! My mother was forever optimistic, she had a lot of faith, and she always believed that everything was going to work out just fine, and ironically they always did! The Mail Man would show up with a check in the Mail for her, when she most needed it, or someone would show up with a basket of food etc, in the time of need! Also look around you, look as far as you can into this vast universe, and ask your self this question: who created all of this for you. And pay special attention to the things of nature, and ask your self this question, who created all of this for you to have, and to behold, and to enjoy. If you sincerely believe that all of your needs are taken care of both in your waking hours, and in your sleeping hours, then, you will know that all of need are taken of, and that you just have to do your part in taking care of yourself! If you are looking for a specific miracle, and revelation, just know that you have already received it the day you were born, and you are living that revelation, here and now. Your parents were blessed with a beautiful gift, “You,” and you are a priceless gift. You are worth all the riches in the world and more, because you have everything, life indeed; there is nothing more precious in this world than life it self, and with life you get to enjoy the things in your world. What more can you ask for, if not to cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he will continue to take care of you like he did before you were born, and after you were born! answered 20 Jan '11, 01:13 Inactive User ♦♦ |
Casting the burden... total surrender. Letting go. Florence Scovel Shinn is a fantastic author. I tried this and it worked miracles in my life, one after the other. And to think I was even doubtful of it. answered 25 Feb '11, 15:12 Aphrodite Thank you for your response. It has started to work for me too :)

well it is said in the bible help yourself and god will help you! so the burden is what you can't do annything to solve it yourself so let god handle that part have faith in him that he can do it! We are told to do three things with our burdens: "Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved" (Ps. 55:22). answered 06 Jun '11, 01:44 white tiger Everything else I see is good and agree with. :-D

I believe you are referring to "God helps those who help themselves." This truism is not in the Bible, Benjamin Franklin said this truism.

Hello… My thoughts are that Florence Scovel Shinn seemingly did NOT know how to read basic 5th Grade English. Why do I say this?? Open your Authorized King James 1611 Bible to Psalms 55. Now, read ALL 23 VERSES! The terms and ideas of the ‘superconscious mind’, ‘Christ within’, and ‘the subconscious’ are NEVER mentioned by King David. Again, this is just another feeble attempt by man to stroke his intellectual ego for vain glory. Instead of reading, studying, and understanding these verses in a Biblical context, Shinn has twisted the verses to invent false Biblical claims which would match her own New Age mentality and beliefs. Shinn’s doctrine is based on only [6] words out of [23] verses! And, to make matters worse, she only quoted one-third of verse [22] and completely misapplied the Scripture’s intent. This is exactly the type of private interpretation which leads to a man’s DESTRUCTION [II Peter 3:14-17]! A BIBLICAL Analysis of Psalms 55 Every Bible verse has a THREE-FOLD application: (1) The Historical Application (2) The Spiritual Application (3) The Prophetic Application By globally applying this strategy to Psalms 55, we can learn the following truths: (1) The Historical Application This Psalm was written by David at a time of great turmoil consisting of battles with his enemies and a betrayal by an old friend. In his helplessness, David does NOT look WITHIN, but he cries OUTWARD to GOD for deliverance and salvation: VERSES [1-3]… David is passionately crying out to GOD because of the voice and actions of his hateful enemies and the oppression of the wicked towards him. VERSES [4-11]… David describes that he CANNOT turn WITHIN(!) in order to dissolve his feelings of helplessness because (1) his heart is sore pained, (2) the terrors of death are upon him, (3) fearfulness and trembling are upon him, and (4) horror overwhelmed him. David wished that he had wings like a dove in order to fly away to the safety of the wilderness. David continues to pray that THE LORD would destroy and confuse the wicked that were continuously bringing violence, strife, mischief, sorrow, deceit, and guile to the city. VERSES [12-18]… David now confesses that it was not a hateful enemy that reproached him and magnified himself against him. David was actually betrayed by an old FRIEND [ ‘a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance’ ] with whom he had shared conversations while walking to the house of GOD. David continues to pray that (1) the wicked would die and go to HELL, (2) GOD will hear his loud and fervent cries, and (3) GOD will save and deliver his soul from the battle against his enemies. VERSES [19-21]… David now proclaims that (1) GOD will indeed hear his prayers and afflict not only the wicked, but also his betrayer, (2) the wicked have no fear of THE LORD because they have no intentions of changing, (3) the betrayer puts forth his hands against such that are at peace with him, (4) the betrayer breaks his covenant, and (5) the betrayer has a mouth full of smooth words but a heart full of war and violence. VERSES [22-23]… In light of all this oppression, David advocates that (1) the persecuted would ‘cast thy burden upon THE LORD’, (2) it is THE LORD that will sustain the persecuted, (3) it is THE LORD that will never allow the righteous to be moved, (4) GOD shall bring down the wicked into the pit of destruction (HELL), and (5) bloody and deceitful men have shortened lives. As you can see from the Historical application, David is NOT crying INWARD to his ‘Christ-within’. David is crying OUTWARD to ‘THE LORD’. If you define ‘THE LORD’ to mean the ‘Christ-within’, then you are completely butchering the rest of David’s prayer. Why?? Because you are declaring that the ‘Christ-within’ is able to accomplish everything that ‘THE LORD’ can accomplish. How can this be true?? How can David’s ‘Christ-within’ afflict, confuse, and destroy the wicked?? How can David’s ‘Christ-within’ sustain the persecuted?? How can David’s ‘Christ-within’ never allow the righteous to be moved?? How can David’s ‘Christ-within’ bring down the wicked into the pit of destruction?? If David’s ‘Christ-within’ had all this power, then why did he need to cry OUT to ‘THE LORD’ for deliverance and salvation!? Do you honestly believe that David’s ‘Christ-within’ had the power to take his entire ‘burden’ to a place where ‘it is made light(?!), or dissolved(?!) into its native nothingness’?? You see, this is the disaster that New Age teachers like Shinn get themselves into when attempting to privately define and interpret GOD’s Words. It cannot be done! GOD’s Words define and interpret themselves! (2) The Spiritual Application Psalm 55 teaches an array of comforting spiritual truths:
(3) The Prophetic Application Biblical prophecy is discerned and understood by studying Biblical Types. A ‘Biblical Type’ is a person, place, or thing found in Biblical history which shares one or more common elements with a specific Biblical prophecy. In the Scriptures, David is known as a ‘type’ of Jesus Christ and a ‘type’ of Israel. Psalms 55 has both ‘types’ in evidence. In order to limit the length of this post, I am only listing a few of the common elements without the corresponding list of Biblical verses: [A] David as a ‘type’ of Jesus Christ
[B] David as a ‘type’ of Israel
Now, Psalms 55 goes one step further. In verse [19], we are told that GOD will afflict the wicked and ‘even he that abideth of OLD’. This is a very ominous clue because, in the Scriptures, ‘that OLD friend’ = ‘the betrayer’ = ‘he that abideth of OLD’ = ‘that OLD serpent’ = ‘the dragon’ = ‘leviathan’ = ‘the Devil’ = ‘Lucifer’ = SATAN! Therefore, by studying David’s oppression in Psalms 55, we are also now able to discern and understand in ‘type’ tremendous prophetic truths concerning Jesus Christ and Israel. From Psalms 55, then, we see that: (1) Satan was the spirit of WICKEDNESS against David through his ‘friend’! (2) Satan was the spirit of WICKEDNESS against Jesus Christ through Judas Iscariot! (3) Satan will be the spirit of WICKEDNESS against Israel through the Anti-Christ! In conclusion, we can see how studying the Historical Application, Spiritual Application, and Prophetic Application of Biblical passages will grow and advance Biblical knowledge, Biblical understanding, and Biblical wisdom. The Bible must be believed and studied within the scope of its intended word definitions, doctrines, and history. The New Age Thought Movement is CONTRARY to the Bible. You will NEVER understand the Bible if you choose to FORCE-FEED the ‘New Age’ into its Words and doctrines. As you can plainly see, Psalms 55 has absolutely NOTHING to do with the ‘superconscious mind’, ‘Christ within’, or ‘the subconscious’ of Shinn’s belief system. If Florence Scovel Shinn believed that the Bible is a New Age book, then she NEVER understood the existence and meaning of SIN. Unfortunately for her, she probably died with her SINS on her personal account, and her name will NOT be found in the Book of Life [Revelation 20:15]. Friendly Advice: DO NOT FOLLOW IN ‘NEW AGE’ FOOTSTEPS! Thanks for reading. Concerned Citizen answered 05 Feb '11, 16:51 Concerned Citizen well concerned citizen the way i see it jesus was the man and the christ was is spiritual side. and he was connected to god to make is work on earth god was working with him jesus say it himself that he does the work of the father. as for david that was before jesus and again it was with god the father. as for light it is the first thing that god created if god want to take the burden in the light and dissolve it why not. moses saw a burning bush on the mountain could it have been a bush in the light? yes words are important but that was a very long time ago fire and light could be the same.
