I'm not exactly sure how to phrase this particular question, so please pardon me, but I am sure you all will get what I am trying to ask anyway.

Let's just use alcohol as an example; In Conversations with Gods (Book I) By Neale Donald Walsh, there is a particular passage that goes like this:

N : Only after 20 years of grueling physical punishment.

God: And if you’ve ever taken alcohol into your body, you have very little will to live.

N: I drink very moderately.

God: The body was not meant to intake alcohol. It impairs the mind.

N: But Jesus took alcohol! He went to the wedding and turned water into wine!

God: So who said jesus was perfect?

N: Oh, for God’s sake.

God: Say, are you becoming annoyed with Me?

N: Well, far be it from me to become annoyed with God. I mean, that would be a bit presumptuous, wouldn’t it? But I do think we can carry all this a bit too far. My father taught me, “all things in moderation.” I think I’ve stuck to that where alcohol is concerned.

God: The body can more easily recover from only moderate abuse. The saying is therefore useful. Nevertheless, I’ll stick to my original statement: the body was not meant to intake alcohol.

So the question is why would "God" (or Source, Infinite Intelligence or whatever you call it) would say that feeding certain types of substances such as alcohol or drugs are a form of abusing our body, and by doing so it actually means that we have no will to live?

Why would these substances even be able to harm our bodies in the first place if they were created by us and that we have the freedom to do what we want?

I haven't read the book, but from what you posted it makes too strong claims.

It's said that God loves you unconditionally, so it means he doesn't care either. Which also means he doesn't care to judge you, so who's to claim this or that is what God would say. This also defies idea of heaven and hell.

I found this to be true in this world - million people, million ways of living and looking at things. Depend on none of them, create your own. You can always learn about effects of alcohol...

...and choose for yourself if that is what you want.Just like 1+1 is 2 and 3*3 is 9.It's your choice whether you want 2 in life or 9. Do you want to be able run a marathon, then don't don't drink, smoke!Exercise!Do you wanna party and your health condition don't bother you, then drink and smoke.

As long as you're happy with whatever you way you live, it's fine. As tiger says, experience and enjoy. Because you might find there's something more exciting than drinking. But that's up to you to find.

I've never read these books (to my shame) but that kind of interaction reminds me very much of the interactions I get from my own channeling experiences.

I also often get quite jokey and witty responses, along the lines of that "So who said jesus was perfect?" comment :)

Given the popularity of these "Conversations with God" books, I'm sure Mr Walsch is in touch with some higher consciousness that resonates with many people, but to label it as "God" (with all the accompanying emotional baggage that the word carries for many) seems like a rather bold move.

I would simply classify this interaction as the opinion of some non-physical being that he's communicating with.

They all have their own opinions and personalities, just like us. After all, we are also non-physical beings but just choosing to project an aspect of ourselves into "physical reality" to experience it, rather than watch it from "outside" in a more detached manner.

But it is important to remember (and this simple idea has taken me years to internalize) that unless you are actually physically experiencing this physical reality for yourself, your opinion is ultimately worth the same as the opinion of anyone who "teaches, but doesn't do" :)

So I would treat those opinions in the same way. If you find them to be of value to you, listen to them. If you think it's nonsense, just ignore it as you would any other physical person's opinion that you disagree with.

@Stingray- Good words, and thanks for pointing out that even if info be channeled or not, if it doesn't resonate with you, it's ok to not accept it and take it in (actually you shouldn't take it in if there's no vibe involved).

(17 Jul '12, 04:12) Nikulas

@Stingray, it's interesting thing. How understanding that it all are just opinions, and they are all equal, or evaluated only by the measures of our own reality in which we currently reside dissipate them all and ALSO, takes away the need to give my own opinion about anything, as I myself am starting to see it unnecessary. lol

(17 Jul '12, 04:15) CalonLan

@Stingray- Been meaning to ask you, but any comments upon caffiene and alcohol, or would you know if Bashar's got anything to say about that? I'm going through a little phase where everthing Bashar says is making sense. I've been googling channeled info on caffeine/ tea/herbs/ alcohol with very sketchy answers, could you help me out, Yoda?

(17 Jul '12, 04:15) Nikulas

@Nikulas - Not sure specifically about caffeine and alcohol but, regarding health, Bashar suggests detoxification and super-hydration as ways to cope with what you put in your body. I put some of those ideas in this answer: How can we equalize the mind, body, spirit complex? . My own personal view is the same old boring one, I'm afraid :) ...get into the Vortex and follow your inspiration. From my experiences, I have rarely...

(17 Jul '12, 04:57) Stingray

@Nikulas - ...wanted caffeine and alcohol when feeling Vortex-aligned. Doesn't mean it's right or wrong, I just feel more attracted to water as something to drink in those times.

(17 Jul '12, 04:59) Stingray

@Stingray, I felt the word God was too strong too so I put it in quotes, as I didnt know what else to replace it with. And as you said, other teachers claim that it doesn't really matter as long as it reasonates with you, so when someone says "God" said this kind of stuff (alcohol ruining the body) it kind of jumped out at me

(17 Jul '12, 05:55) kakaboo

@Stingray- Thankyou for the billionth time.

I went through that mega hydration thing about 5 months ago (and I should probably start it again). I began it when I was on a cold, 5L of water a day.....Cold was gone the next very next day, and it was one hell of a cold let me tell you.

(17 Jul '12, 05:59) Nikulas

@Nikulas - Yes, water drinking is incredibly under-rated...mainly because I think no-one can make money from that advice :) I even have an app on my smartphone that regularly reminds me to drink water. I keep coming across information suggesting that nearly all, if not all, human ailments are dehydration-related. Remember that water isn't just for the physical body, it has some pretty impressive vibrational properties also so it's not just a physical transformation that it can bring about.

(17 Jul '12, 06:23) Stingray

@Stingray, there was a study done by a Japanese scientist that water can pick up outer vibration. When a beautiful music tune was played to the water it crystallized beautifully, when e.g. heavy metal it was all screwed. Do you think that this might also contribute to elevating one's mood or his/her total vibrational state. I mean, the more water you drink might magnify vibrational effects to which you are exposed throughout the day?

(17 Jul '12, 07:28) CalonLan

And I can confirm hydration is great contribution to one's health. It's suggested I should drink approx 2.1 liters a day for my current body weight. Nonetheless, I drink over 3L during 8 working hours, 1.5l during my workout, then additional 1-1.5l till I go to bed. So over 6L a day. In hot summer days it's even more. And I've got rid of headaches, lethargy and falling asleep. Water is the best drink ever ;)

(17 Jul '12, 07:33) CalonLan

@CalonLan - "...this might also contribute to elevating one's mood or his/her total vibrational state" - Yes, I think it does. I think it helps considerably in "processing" vibrational change so increasing water intake during times of transition can accelerate and smooth those changes. I also find, like you hint at, that water in large quantities is the best energy drink around. Super-hydration gives you far more energy (naturally) than cups of coffee or tea, and without any downside.

(17 Jul '12, 07:57) Stingray

@CalonLan - The only side-effect I've noticed in some people is that when they first start out, large quantities of water can start to give them mild headaches. That's because of the detoxifying effect of it. The body is using it to leech toxins out of the system while it has the chance. As you carry on with the water intake, the body settles down - it realizes that this increase in water intake is permanent and it can relax :) - and those headaches vanish. It's all good from there onwards

(17 Jul '12, 08:02) Stingray

I have read that every one of the body's processes takes place in the presence of water. Everything in you needs that water.

It's strange that you'd ask this question, from this book and also an excerpt related to alcohol as dialogue:)

This book came into my life when I was battling alcohol. It was given to me... strange, strange and beautiful coincidence:)

I have read all three original ones from Mr. Walsh. It was my first jump into philosophy/spirituality and that too at a crucial time. I learned a lot from it. It served its purpose at that time:)

I approached it (the book) the same way Mr. Walsh approached God/Entity. Mr. Walsh (at that time) was my link to that entity. There are lots of contradiction in those conversations, but they're his conversations so I took what I wanted to from it and that's it.

Of course, It was a one-way conversation as I was the only one doing the asking:) But, over-all it did leave a positive impression on me.

Our physical body is just that, a physical body, so the laws of physics apply to them. It's the limitation of that physical form like any other physical form.

If we do anything in excess, even the good stuff- like eating- our physical form is going to break down. The entity does not stop one from doing this excessive indulgence because we have free will, but it is us who see it bad as we attach value to our physical life in terms of length of time spent in this form.

Alcohol consumption is nod bad, excessive alcohol consumption is bad. Going to space in a space shuttle is not bad in itself (that relates to what you are saying about 'we created it'), but going there and planting a bomb would be considered bad:) Fire was not discovered to set forests on fire, but some people do it. That's the message I got from that conversation.

It's not from the point of view of being judgmental, it is from point of view of being choosing what's right for the physical form Or not! A road sign if you will, Free will, no judgement!

At least that's what I got from it.

BTW, they say, this book comes into the lives of people when they most need it:) I dunno, that's what they say:)

@Xoomaville I didnt really feel it need it, though there was one specific paragraph out of the whole book that left a deep impression on me. Lots of metaphysical books come into my life rotting on my desktop or lying around in my house, I just never get around to reading most of them :)

(17 Jul '12, 05:57) kakaboo

@kakaboo, yes true, I get lots of them as well which I barely open, but lots of people at the time told me that it comes to those who need it. And I kind of wanted to hear that at the time I guess. You know, the whole, teacher appears when the student is ready thing:)

(17 Jul '12, 07:15) Xoomaville

In the mid nineties, I studied many things that were new to me after what some people call a "nervous breakdown". Shatki Gawain's Living in the Light, The Opening of The Third Eye by Douglas Baker, a wonderful book about the occult wisdom within the Bible called The Hidden Wisdom of the Holy Bible by Geoffrey Hodson. Real eye opener, that one. Edgar Cayce, Kahuna Magic, The Mystery of the Crosses, I think one title was, a very interesting account of the silver crosses concealed within "rocks" and buried in the Southern California hills long before Christians got here... Many others.

I read Openning to Channel by Sanaya Roman and Duane Parker, channeling Orin and DaBen, and I channeled an entity called Archer. I used to see flashes of brilliant neon blue light and figures standing around me in a half circle. Someone used to come and sit on the end of my bed for a little while every night as I went to sleep.

Around this time I began a written conversation with Jesus. He was very warm and kind, often very amusing. He was the one who told me to step into my pain, he said there was a surprise waiting for me there. He was right, of course, but that's a long story.

He also told me: "The saying "you are what you eat" is more true than you realize. So right about now, you are a pile of BBQ Corn Nuts floating in a puddle of Diet Coke. :)" Funny guy. I loved him.

The book Conversations With God had not been published yet. About a year or so later, I read that book and was surprised to find that the author was probably having these conversations at right about the same time I was, and in the same written, conversational, friendly manner.

I've never told anyone at all about these exeriences. Always figured no one would believe me. I have often thought we channeled the same entity. We got some of the same phrases, even. Same info. He explained why the universe was created, and that I am God. Trying to separate us was like trying to separate the sun from light, or separating water from wet.

Just thought I'd share.

@Grace - "you are a pile of BBQ Corn Nuts floating in a puddle of Diet Coke" ...Hilarious :) Humor is an incredibly spiritual thing, I find, and these good-feeling beings are full of it...humor, I mean.

(17 Jul '12, 11:39) Stingray

@Stingray, it's funny you should find this funny as I do. One of the reasons I'm here at IQ is I recognized in many of the posts that same writing style as the fellow I channeled... Same humor, same wisdom, same kindness, same no bullsh*t, same willingness to teach and have fun at the same time... even down to the same little smileys at the end of statements that take the sting out of the difficult ones. Seriously. You and he write the same way. :)

(17 Jul '12, 11:51) Grace

@Grace - That's easy to explain. We're obviously both using the same auto-spiritual-answer-creation software. You know, the one with that smiley generation feature you can't turn off :) :) :) :) ...see what I mean.

(17 Jul '12, 12:21) Stingray

@Stingray - Yes that explains it. Thank you, once again, for clearing up a mystery for me. :)

@White Tiger beat me to it. Jesus said, "It is not what goes into your mouth that matters so much as what comes out of your mouth."

I haven't read, "Conversations With God", but if this is an example of NDW's philosophy, I don't see the value, whether "God" (or Source or whatever or NDW) actually said that.

if you’ve ever taken alcohol into your body, you have very little will to live.

Oh, come on now. Do the book(s) get more interesting than that?

I think that any information channeled has to be filtered through the consciousness of the host. That accounts for the color as well as the integrity of the answers. I just take what resonates, and dump the rest.

(17 Jul '12, 13:01) Grace

@Grace I agree. I have known hosts who personally disliked gambling, and though they were very accurate with other predictions, people who asked for gambling tips always lost.

Just because an entity is non-physical does not mean they have truths that resonate with everyone, nor even that they have words of value.

I agree, take what resonates and dump the rest!

(17 Jul '12, 13:09) Dollar Bill

It is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of the mouth; this defiles a person."

But if you know the beginning, you will know the end. You have free will use it wisely.

Experience and enjoy.
