“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.” ― Albert Einstein

The question is asked here in different forms. When will people learn l-o-a or why isn't everyone enlighten. We often quote "When the student is ready the teacher will appear"
What if they aren't looking or have no desire and want to stay ignorant. And when they get into a group consciousnesses, and their political , religious and cultural views they can influence a majority.

“Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.” ― George Carlin

Shouldn't we teach/preach that stupidity and ignorance are wrong ?

  • EDIT
My title question originally was Happy being stupid? It was meant to be a little provoking, but I wasn't think about intelligence per se or lack there of .My thoughts were more around actions and deeds than intellect.
Thank you all for your answers and dialog

I always wonder, how the man who gave the world the nuclear bomb- that could destroy all life on earth- say such a thing...STUPIDITY IS INFINITE?

(08 Dec '12, 12:41) mastermind2
2

@mastermind2 Huh! You say that which such attitude if one didn't know better they would tend to agree. No one disputed your totally inaccurate claim. I will. Sorry, Einstein did not create the atomic bomb. His only contribution was his Theory of Relativity & the formula E=m2 (energy=mass times the speed of light squared). When he published his work; he never intended the formula to be used to make a bomb. Please check your facts next time. TY

Stupidity is infinite because imagination is infinite. Einstein assumed there was only one truth ("God does not play dice"). So there is an infinite number of ways to get things wrong but just one way to get them right.

(13 Jan '13, 12:47) flowsurfer

@ursixx You provided a link to a forgery! Einstein did not actively participate; but I did misspeak. I was aware of my blunder & planned on fixing it but got distracted. I was aware of the letter he wrote to Truman urging him to build the bomb before it was too late. The link you provided w/letter to FDR was actually a forgery. I should have provided a link the other night; but didn't think anyone here would be interested in the topic.

So please ignore the "word only" before the word contribution. There really was no choice. Axis (them) or allies (us); who would be first - who would survive. Had it not been dropped, 2 million American lives would have been lost plus a countless # of Allied forces before the Japenese would surrender. It ended WWII. The Nazi's had surrendered earlier.

Is it okay to be happy being stupid?

Yes, why not? If someone wants to be that way, then why do you want to stop them.

Shouldn't we teach/preach that stupidity and ignorance are wrong?

If you want to, then go right ahead. But, I have now met enough people in my life to confidently say that what Abraham Hicks have said has proved to be true again and again.

"Words don't teach, it is life experience that teaches"

People seem to learn and listen when they make mistakes and get it wrong. So, unless someone has really given up on their stupid ways which has not achieved anything for them in life, then they will not be ready to listen to your words of wisdom and integrate these words into their lives.

The other very important point that Abraham Hicks make in relation to teaching others is that the best way is to:

"Teach through the clarity of your example"

Essentially, if people see that you are thriving and living a life where you are getting everything you want and you are always happy, don't you think that they will start to follow your footsteps and then maybe even harass until you teach them the key to your thriving, in your case, not being stupid...

What i often realize is that generally happy people don't care much about who is stupid or intelligent (no offense here to anyone). As i had depressions many years ago i always talked about how stupid humanity is and made sarcastic jokes about it in a George Carlin style. And i felt a bit of relief in me like when i do the abraham processes today to feel good. But it was not anywhere near the vortex feeling that i feel today. I still felt bad back then.

Now i realize that wanting to judge others and saying they are stupid is just wanting to be superior and wanting to compensate the own unhappiness and insecurity. It's the same as if i believed in one religion and wanted everyone to believe what i believe.

Imo that comes from a scarcity mindset. Someone like that fears that the own belief and faith could turn out be false if someone had very good arguments and convincing charisma. So he judges and hates to ignore and protect his own belief.

After all who is to judge which person is stupid and which is intelligent? One could say that IQ determines the intelligence of a person. Someone else could say it is something else like EQ (emotional intelligence). Also one could say that pigeon-holing someones intelligence is stupid.

(04 Dec '12, 18:51) Starlight

ok but if we use the word "stupid" as a lack of reason (reason:the power of comprehending, inferring, or thinking especially in orderly rational ways) http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/reason ? Such as the making of decisions that we might find unreasonable .Shouldn't we in that sense teach/ preach reasonable thought?

(05 Dec '12, 02:46) ursixx

@Starlight You are welcome.

(05 Dec '12, 03:13) releaser99

@ursixx Good point! I think i have to agree with @Kakaboo that you can't focus on a war against something (such as war, poverty, ignorance etc.) without creating it at the same time. Yes, it feels counterintuitive and "wrong" sometimes because we learned to push against what we believe is bad our whole life. But if you believe in LOA then you have to concentrate on what you want, not on what you don't want. This video might give you a better answer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvu_NmhcSZk

@releaser99 I agree with you and kakaboo too . so as being a person iho of reasonable thought and having to deal with victims of unreasonable thought through my vibration of "All is well" I show them that unreasonable thought is counterproductive to their well being and that of those around them. And that this vibration of" All is well" should carry though them .. I think if we want change we must be the change

No, we shouldn't teach that ignorance is wrong, because that would be equivalent to not believing in the Law of Attraction anymore.

As mentioned before many times on this site, sometimes it is better to ignore what is going on in the outside world so that it will not be able to negatively influence you. For instance, if there is a war going on in another country or natural disaster happening, as long as you do not focus on these events, you would be less likely to attract something of similar nature. If you choose not to ignore these events and focus on them instead, then you would need a very strong willpower and belief for these events to not affect you in any way at all.

For the other questions, I don't have much opinions on them so I shan't comment on them.

@kakaboo as far avoiding wars and such I do not follow them directly but they do fall into the periphery as my work is with refugees. I try to keep them focused on now. I am not worried about war where I live. But do feel compassion for those suffering. And do think that the ethnic cleansing ,the treatment of woman as a possession and not an equal, and the use of children as soldiers and slaves as stupid . Is that a judgement on my part yes! I see stupidity as a darkness....

@Ursixx I thought your question an interesting one anyway but as you don't ask many questions I was confused by your use of the word "stupid" as I "know" you to be an incredibly thoughtful and balanced contributor to this site so assumed there must be some specifics behind it. The comments above give me much more insight - maybe you should add something about this to the original question? Up close to people affected by these things I can see why you consider some stupid.

Stupid is as stupid does. some times stupidity can be an experience of lack of caring, and if the soul needs this, then it is valid. So it is not that we should praise stupidity itself. But praise ALL experiences.

I want to answer this question with a quote from Abraham. To me, it says it all.

Let others vibrate as they vibrate and want the best for them. Never mind how they're flowing to you. You concentrate on how you're flowing. Because one who is connected to the Energy Stream is more powerful, more influential than a million who are not.

Another one is: Two statements that will serve you very well. The first is: There will always be war. There will always be those who aggravate within others a sense of trouble in order to promote the solution that they already have their mind made up about. And so you're never going to come into agreement as a mass consciousness that this is "the way." There will always be disagreements; therefore, there will always be turmoil; there will always be war.

...

(05 Dec '12, 16:48) ursixx
1

The other statement, that is our favorite is: Well-Being will always abound, so the dominant experience of the majority of people will always be one of Well-Being. So you can decide, at any point in time, in what part of this you want to play. You can use anything as your excuse to align with Well-being, or you can use anything as your excuse to not align.

(05 Dec '12, 16:49) ursixx

...The thing that we think is at the heart of this discussion is my own personal power. We think that's what you are, sort of, struggling for and reaching for.--- Abraham

(05 Dec '12, 16:49) ursixx

@ursixx, as far as "there will always be war", well, for me that is just such a negative statement, and it feels so bad to believe it, that tells me it's the wrong thing to believe, so I don't. And yes, everyone is working at their own stuff, at their own level, making their own way, and our paths and levels are all different and varied.

what you call stupid is simply some one that is at a lower level of understanding and truth. or it is a judgement from your part, and if it is a judgement from your part you will be judge to the same mesure. so make sure that it is not a judgement. because if you are passing judgement and you know you should not judge, and you are not in the truth then are you the one that missed something? then should we call you stupid? you judge by humen standard. in that case you probably see only the outside of the cup. who is with out sin to cast the first stone? why do you have a heart of stone? what do you think stone represent? is it not judgement? for anny of you that judge and have a heart of stone, here is my advice meditate go with in and lift that stone and properly split that pieces of wood and you will find me there. will also add every one as free will and are responsible of it. you probably would not like being called stupid because you do not do as someone else does or because you do not see things in the same way that someone else see things. yes move from ignorance to truth and understanding. so let there be light be the light that you can be experience and enjoy.

You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye. http://bible.cc/matthew/7-5.htm

"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. http://bible.cc/matthew/23-25.htm

  1. Jesus said, "Why do you wash the outside of the cup? Don't you understand that the one who made the inside is also the one who made the outside?"

  2. Jesus said, "I am the light that is over all things. I am all: from me all came forth, and to me all attained.

Split a piece of wood; I am there.

Lift up the stone, and you will find me there."

57 Jesus said, "The Father's kingdom is like a person who has [good] seed. His enemy came during the night and sowed weeds among the good seed. The person did not let the workers pull up the weeds, but said to them, 'No, otherwise you might go to pull up the weeds and pull up the wheat along with them.' For on the day of the harvest the weeds will be conspicuous, and will be pulled up and burned."

  1. Jesus said, "You see the sliver in your friend's eye, but you don't see the timber in your own eye. When you take the timber out of your own eye, then you will see well enough to remove the sliver from your friend's eye."

  2. His disciples said, "Show us the place where you are, for we must seek it."

He said to them, "Anyone here with two ears had better listen! There is light within a person of light, and it shines on the whole world. If it does not shine, it is dark."

@white tiger If you read the comments to releaser and kakaboo I was using the word "stupid" to define more of a lack of reason than that of intelligence.

(05 Dec '12, 02:50) ursixx

Still, it's not exactly the best word to use.

(05 Dec '12, 09:42) Bedazzled

@ursixx if you have truly read my answer, you should be able to comprehend much more how it all relate together. ask your self this question did i really understood the answer? or did miss something? what is the reason for me to have made this comment: If you read the comments to releaser and kakaboo I was using the word "stupid" to define more of a lack of reason than that of intelligence. did i properly split the piece of wood? or am i searching for the speak or sliver,in my friend eyes?

read your question (What if they aren't looking or have no desire and want to stay ignorant. (05 Dec '12, 16:57) ursixx

@ursixx yes i know the words. but it does not answer the question. should you judge another as being stupid or ignorant because according to you he did not learn something that you know, when the same could be said about you because you might not know something according to someone else point of view. i would prefer that you search for the answer in you, rather then just intellectual words in dictionnary. ok lets inverse role you are the one being told you are ignorant from someone else point of

(05 Dec '12, 19:50) white tiger

view, do you like that? 1:if you are ignorant of something, you will say i might not know about this but i am not ignorant because i know some other stuff. 2 if you know the same thing, you will say why does he think i am ignorant when i know the same thing as him. 3 if you know more then him you will say he judge me out of is own ignorance and eventually he will understand and learn more. so if you would not like being on the receiving side, why are you doing it from the sending side?

(04 Dec '12, 23:06) white tiger

You're swinging double edged sword here. You will cut people with one edge, yet you will fall on the opposite one yourself.

For sake of understanding I'll become a hypocrite now.

We shouldn't preach anything at all.

On this stage of world and in this play of life, everybody's on their own. They have always been and always will be. Why then should you bother about groups of any kind.

You are a free soul. But apparently you let yourself into slavery of attachment of your current situation in hopeless attempt to belong, and this illusion of conformity that society creates provides just that. Sense of belonging, appreciation.

You know, I, just as anyone but with a bit more of specific and clear realization in sense that I can call the name of things that bother me, want to be loved. In my reality, during the day, this desire is not getting fulfilled, so I sometimes feel distressed. Sometimes I compensate for feeling of sadness by making counter decision. It's a temporary relief. And most of the time regrets follow even seemingly good decisions or I create a situation of much worse proportions.

But sometimes it happens, that during the time I sleep, I dream a dream where this desires gets fulfilled. And quite interestingly I can let go all the superficiality that I live with by day.

My dreams have showed me that what I know from 'real life' is no more real than what is in my dreams.

The point is, you should not worry about whether any group of religious, political or whatnot community influences anything at all. It takes the focus away from YOUR life. If you let go of all these nonsense bonds that only creates emotional turbulence you will know taste what freedom feels like. No situation, no community or family members will hold you prisoner through various emotional ties. You will only feel what you want to feel like.

You got starring role in the movie called 'your life', enjoy it. Be whoever you want, maybe someone, maybe a little bit of everyone. Be a hero, villain, background noise and the guitar solo, be the actor and the observer and most of all, enjoy it. And should you not like it, you can always ascend.

And as for feeling appreciated and loved, nobody else, no society or group of people can provide. In sense, that you will never have enough this way. It's just like drugs, once you taste being loved, you can't get enough. But this love, as anything after all, has to be yours. Your of own appreciation of yourself. Anything else is bound to fail at some point.

Let stupid be stupid, it's the role they wanna play. Let everything be. And enjoy the show.

I am constantly loved and appreciated that I am grateful for. But by letting stupid be stupid does that not beget more stupidity? And if I am the "hero" of the movie of my life .What do heroes do? They save people in trouble they get them out of sometimes stupid situations that they themselves have done. I really don't worry about these situations it's more like the sounds a fireworks going of in the distance awareness ...

in both the original quotes the refer to actions take out of ignorance that harm others, so in that context no, it is not ok to be happy while you are a Nazi killing Jews out of ignorance. it is ok to be intellectually stupid as long as you are not harming others with your actions.
