Do we sometimes need to question where our information comes from or who it comes from? In case it might be from a source that wants to do us harm or mis-guide us so we will ever be in an maze of information going no where and not recieving the correct understanding and knowledge.

My mother taught me to question everything. I have trusted my inner guidance, and when I have asked, things and understanding have always come to me, even when though haven't understood how until fairly recently when I started to follow paths of my choosing (or was guided to) for understanding. I feel whether things are true or not. I won't say I have never been deceived but even those rare occasions have served me. Of course, the media is another matter, as are the government ... I don't trust them as far as I can throw them! |

You ask if we should sometimes question where our information comes from? ...I would say that you should always question where your information comes from...but more especially, you should question exactly what that information is, because sometimes "truth" can come from unexpected sources. Perhaps in some of my messages on this website, I might give the impression of an all-singing, all-dancing new age puppet that spouts good-feeling quotes from popular metaphysical books. Actually, nothing could be further from the truth. I question everything, all the time...including myself. I am as skeptical as they come...it took me more than a decade to accept the existence of channeling and I was only ultimately convinced when I discovered my friends were doing it and then I found I could do it myself to some extent. Hard to argue with something you do yourself, you know. ;) But no matter how much faith you have in an information source (even from within), you must take that received knowledge and scrutinize it. Time for a quick quote before this answer becomes too boring...
So how do you decide if knowledge is useful to you and is not misleading or harming you? By the way, you feel. Especially with channeled information (whether you are channeling it yourself or receiving it from others), you must get a feeling of whether the information resonates with some part of you. Information that has genuine value will make you feel uplifted and joyful as you think about it. It will give you a feeling of fullness and expansiveness. You will almost be able to feel the "light of truth" emanating from it. If the information does not speak to you this clearly, then it is not for you right now. It does not mean the information is wrong...maybe sometime in the future it might have validity but it's time for you to leave it alone in this moment and move on. I hope that little bit of preaching provides you with a bit of guidance. :) +1 all-singing, all dancing new age puppet...You've redeemed yourself. :)

@stingray Truth has a congruency that continues over time. You, in particular have congruence with your words and beliefs. We seek truth. I have been actively studying metaphysics and Hermeneutics for the last 44 years. I have had experience with trance mediums where, if they had something to begin with, lost it along the way as their ego got involved. I have heard a medium, in trance, say, "Discern ye my words very carefully, oh my children, for the vessel through which I speak is becoming impure." I find Esther/Hicks/Abraham's words to be very congruent with what she has spoken in the past as well as how well her information fits in with the inner teachings of almost all religions I have studied. I feel good about her information. I feel it is inspired. It comes from Source. I am revamping my opinions about mediums. If you receive a letter from a loved one, do you care which postman brought it? I am not excluding other mediums (channellers). In fact I am eager to hear more, but I still hold to the values that Truth is congruent and it makes you feel good.

Just a quick answer for now so I can get some sleep, but I'll no doubt add some more to it tomorrow. I believe we should always question where our information comes from and it's accuracy. I was amazed years ago when my former wife mentioned something she had read in the newspaper (in an editorial, no less). I asked, "Do you believe that just because it's in the paper?" She said it wouldn't be in the paper if it weren't true! I think that most people today realize how manipulative and outright deceptive many writers and speakers can be. Something put forth as fact or truth, should be able to stand up to examination. We need to be responsible for vetting the information ourselves if we expect to integrate it and make use of it. Every writer and speaker has an agenda (or an ax to grind), so we need to take it in, assess it, test it, see if it's going to be useful to us, and decide for ourselves whether or not it works for us. You are so right John but that is not only for what we read or hear on tv but when we are on our spiritual journey as well especially when we are on our spiritual journey for their are an lot of well written books and people who speak well are distorting the truths so you can't coninue on the right path of your journey. I read a paragraph about Sir Pratchett. Did you know of him before going to England? Sorry, he's news to me. I'm guessing (probably incorrectly) that your parenthetical remark refers to his fantasy writing, as if being in print means it's real (in the eyes of someone like my ex).

The 'ahahahahaha' is atributable to one of Terry's more eccentric characters. I am a Brit now living in the USA and Terry Pratchett is my all time favourite author. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terry_Pratchett I see he was knighted this year and his books for adults and his books for children are witty, funny and yet very thought provoking. I love the Hogfather (though it helps to have read a couple of others before that just to get full understanding of the relationships of the characters. I also highly recommend Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett.

One of the things that is talked about in the Your Wish Is Your Command CD collection is that we need to watch where we get our information. There are a lot that one either don't fully know or are purposely leaving out important stuff. Kevin said that even when you buy a book supposedly written by a millionaire or billionaire on how to be one it wasn't. They don't have the time to write and so a ghost writer writes the book for them that may have nothing to do with what they actually know. Even Napoleon Hill's classic Think and Grow Rich was butchered from an earlier release of the Law of Success in Sixteen Lessons because Henry Ford was furious and felt betrayed! Not only this I have heard that even the Sixteen Laws of Success was edited because of this same reason so when you get The Sixteen Laws today it is not the original released version it is a copy of a later released version. Still it is one of the best books you can get, it has a lot of information it in. Other books include The Magic of Believing, The Magic of Thinking Big, The Go Getter, and Ask And It Is Given. These were the recommended books from the CDs I have more myself. The Richest Man In Babylon, The Secret Of The Ages, The Science of Getting Rich. PSITECH covers a lot of excellent books themselves. |
