Hi, this is my first question on IQ. Nice meeting you all!

I'm fairly new to the MKS, currently in week 3. My question is, what exactly is meant by "the world within"? At first I thought it refers to a dimension within each individual. But then it seems to me that this term is sometimes used synonymous with the Universal Mind. That just seems strange to me because I got the impression that the world within is something lesser than Universal Mind.

I'm quoting point 22 of part 1:

"We are related to the world within by the subconscious mind. The solar plexus is the organ of this mind; the sympathetic system of nerves presides over all subjective sensations, such as joy, fear, love, emotion, respiration, imagination and all other subconscious phenomena. It is through the subconscious that we are connected with the Universal Mind and brought into relation with the infinite constructive forces of the Universe."

It would be great if someone here could shed some light on this. Thx!

The world without is all that we can perceive using our five senses, all that is clearly manifested into physical reality and as such is limited by the capacity of our physical senses ... the world within is all that cannot be perceived by our five senses and extends into infinity.

These two worlds are interdependent ... it's obvious that physical things appear, evolve and disappear. Plants, animals, humans are born and appear, evolve then die and physically disappear.

Everything vibrates, everything is alive, the term "alive" meaning all manifestations of an activity directed with a definite aim and not the usual sense of being alive only applying to animals, humans, vegetables ... so everything is alive and is maintained and directed by a mysterious spiritual force. Scientifically this force is named electromagnetic energy, this energy being nothing but the manifestation of chi, god, supreme being or whatever name you choose to give it.

Little by little this vibrational energy transforms itself by successive contacts with a range of energy clusters into a well determined order and acquires a certain maturity which predisposes it to cross the frontier into the material world. At this moment it condenses into what we name materialisation, and it becomes obvious to the physical senses.

The Master Key System is based on the 7 hermetic principles and explains how they work. These are natural laws that are always working and have been since the beginning of time. With the MKS you train how to make conscious use of them to create the life that you desire

I don't believe the reference to The World Within is meant as a static dimensional (i.e. physical) kind of thing.

Instead, my view is that it refers to a state of being.

If you look earlier in that same lesson, you see these paragraphs:

6.. There is a world within – a world of thought and feeling and power; of light and life and beauty and, although invisible, its forces are mighty.

7.. The world within is governed by mind. When we discover this world we shall find the solution for every problem, the cause for every effect; and since the world within is subject to our control, all laws of power and possession are also within our control.

8.. The world without is a reflection of the world within. What appears without is what has been found within. In the world within may be found infinite Wisdom, infinite Power, infinite Supply of all that is necessary, waiting for unfoldment, development and expression. If we recognize these potentialities in the world within they will take form in the world without.

In particular, notice the sentence The world without is a reflection of the world within.

In other words, you have the conscious choice ( because "The world within is governed by mind" and "the world within is subject to our control" ) to make your World Within as you wish it to be and your World Without will reflect that.

So if you find harmony in that non-physical state of being, it will be reflected in harmony in your physical world. If you find (or align with) a state of being that incorporates health, wealth and happiness then your physical world will reflect health, wealth and happiness.

The state of being that reflects your physical life is governed by your predominant attitudes of thought...you become what you (predominantly) think about. And The Master Key System is giving you the tools to control your predominant thoughts...and therefore your physical (reflected) world around you.

In modern-day reality-creation-speak (The Master Key System was published in the early 1900s), we use jargon phrases like "Vortex alignment" and "following your emotional guidance system" and other similar paradigms from many different teachers but it all comes down to the same thing in the end...

Control your predominant thoughts and you control your physical life

So what's the connection with the World Within (your inner created world of predominant thought) and the Universal Mind?

Well, you can think of it like sifting flour...

The Universal Mind represents everything you could potentially put in the sieve...a representation of "All That Is".

On the other hand, your World Within (under your control) represents the sieve itself which is filtering out everything except what you are allowing into your reality through your predominant thoughts.

What's left in the bowl afterwards for you to play with is your physical reality :)

Hope you get some insights into your query from that chunk of information :)

@Stingray love the sieve analogy ... a sieve can also be used to filter-in information that's normally lost. The native american indians used a handmade dreamcatcher, a woven web like structure on a willow hoop. Nowadays more sophisticated equipment for the capture of subtle energies can be obtained from servranx.

@Stingray . Don't forget that bottomless bag of flour. ;-)

The world within is the spiritual world. The energy behind everything. This energy manifest as forms to give rise to the world without. This energy in its pure state is formless. It is formed by thought, the mental attitude.

The world within is causal. It is invisible in other words, it is not sensed by sense organs. Only feeling can tell if it exists. It is set in motion by mental activity. The effect is the circumstances/reality that can be perceived by sense organs.
