hi..questers.. i am reading a book these days by swami paramhansa yogananda"..,"autobiography of yogi". these two terms.."kriya yoga and raj yoga"..,i heard in this book only. Kriya Yoga is described by its practitioners as the ancient Yoga system revived in modern times by Mahavatar Babaji through his disciple Lahiri Mahasaya, c. 1861. To Westerners, it was brought into popular awareness through Paramahansa Yogananda's book Autobiography of a Yogi and through Yogananda's introductions of the practice since 1920. The system consists of a number of levels of Pranayama based on techniques that are intended to rapidly accelerate spiritual development and engender a profound state of tranquility and God-communion. Yogananda attributes Kriya Yoga to his lineage of gurus, deriving it via Yukteswar Giri and his master Lahiri Mahasaya, from Mahavatar Babaji (fl. 1860s). The latter is reported to have introduced the concept as essentially identical to the Raja Yoga of Patanjali and the concept of Yoga as described in the Bhagavad Gita. has anyone here learnt these two yogas..??? i would love to hear ur experiences.. thank you !!! love, light and blessings ur wayy.. supergirl :)) asked 25 Aug '13, 13:10 supergirl |
Raja = king; Yoga means King. Hnece King of all yogas is Rajayoga, meaning not only during meditation, but throughout the day you keep your soul as a ruler of your senses, mind and intellect. It is easily accomplished! There are three tools to stay safe from the influence of the pressures of daily life, to survive and thrive and perhaps even to be a source of positive change in this 'mad' world. The first tool being the understanding that we are souls, points of luminous light, who have all the qualities of goodness with us and that everyone is just like me. When I come back to that awareness I come back to my original peaceful, loving and pure state of being that allows me to feel content and happy again. The second tool is that I, the soul am the creator of my thoughts and that the intellect with knowledge of the original nature of the soul can guide the mind back to peace and, by staying aware of this, can transform negative personality traits by applying this knowledge in practice. This then allows the soul to remove the dust of negativity and come back to truth and wisdom. The third tool shared was the knowledge of the Supreme, being just like us a point of light who is ever pure, peaceful, loving, blissful & powerful, who is constant and the Father of all souls and by connecting again and again to that One, making Him my Friend.
