On this site I have heard many people talk about the vortex. And it seems that different people have different definitions of what the vortex is to them. I have heard many people describe it according to the emotional guidance scale. They say that if you are on the top end of the scale, particularly within the range of the first seven emotions which are the positive ones, then you are in the vortex.

I have also seen many Abraham Hicks videos of him explaining the vortex. I notice that whenever he is speaking about the vortex, he always does the same swirling motion with his hand. It makes me envision a whirlpool of energy that once you are in the basic vicinity of this whirpool, it will sweep you right in.

There are times that I am remain high on the emotional guidance scale for long periods and I will think to myself that I am in the vortex. Not only because I feel good and I can plainly see that my outer world reflects what I am feeling, but mostly because there is also an underlying feeling of something that does not exist on the emotional guidance scale. It is almost like there is something else....almost like some kind of momentum that is constantly running in the background.

Then there are other times, that are far and few between, where I actually get swept in, powerfully. When this happens to me I feel like I am made of air and that I am floating rather then walking. I always think back to Abraham's swirling hands as he describes the vortex and I get it because that is exactly what happens.

But why has this only started to happen to me now? And it is not because I now know about the vortex so I can understand what is happening to me because the first time I was swept in, it was before I had even heard the word vortex or knew anything about it, but at the same time it was undeniable. It wasnt until I joined this site and heard people talk about it is when I knew that is what happened to me. Clearly, this is not the first time in my life that I have been happy or optimistic for a prolonged period, so why have I only begun to enter the vortex at this point, why had this never happened to me before??

" ... like some kind of momentum that is constantly running in the background" I love this phrase Jess :) ... personally to maintain the momentum I simply project my energy into a few key symbols

Can a person enter the vortex without deliberate thinking?

Yes, because it is natural and easy to enter the Vortex. And everyone does this at times either consciously or unconsciously. Here is the formula to let the Vortex pull you in:

Do not think negative thoughts.

So the only job we have is to stop negative thoughts. But because the mind is a focusing machine and always needs something to focus upon, we cannot just stop thinking altogether. But we can think about things that are not negative such as

  1. Neutral feeling thoughts
  2. Good feeling thoughts

(You see, there is only one way to feel bad and two ways to let feeling good enter your life. This is because well-being and love are extremely dominant in the Universe and they keep calling us all the time.)

Anything that is non-negative for us personally is neutral (but we consider neutral as being "boring" because we already know it, so it's nothing new and exciting). Neutral feeling thoughts often require strong present moment awareness because they are so "boring"/non-exciting that we have to keep coming back to the object of attention because our minds naturally want to wander to more interesting objects, even if they are negative.

Many examples of those neutral/"boring" objects are known in different meditations practices and schools such as focusing on your breathing or on something non-negative in your environment.

Here some examples of good feeling thoughts many people think at times to enter the Vortex (unconsciously):

  • It's Chanukah, Christmas, Eid-al-Fitr, Birthday or any other religious or "meaningful" day. And people have agreed to focus on positive thoughts to feel particularly happy on that day :)
  • You read a book and you really like what's in there
  • You listen to your favorite song and it's uplifting
  • You are "drunk and your team won" (this one is from Abraham :)

Clearly, this is not the first time in my life that I have been happy or optimistic for a prolonged period, so why have I only begun to enter the vortex at this point, why had this never happened to me before??

In my opinion it's particularly fun to enter the Vortex deliberately while being fully aware of it. Because now you can experience every bit of it. It's like eating a really tasty meal and bringing your full awareness to every aroma and taste... instead of watching TV and at the same time talking on the phone to somebody while eating.

By entering the Vortex consciously and deliberately while being fully aware, you really get to enjoy all the benefits and subtleties of the Vortex. Also the Vortex is constantly moving so it feels slightly different almost every time to enter it. So it's like eating different tasty meals and enjoying them all right down to the last detail.

You see the world where as it exists where you go to work, and you see people driving in their cars; and they don't look all that happy about their cars, and they're listening to stuff and they don't look that interested in what they're listening to; and they go to work and they're not that much interested in work; and they can't wait to go home; but the're not much interested in going home BUT then somebody says let's go to a ball game and they have a moment of glee. Whew, drunk and their team won. But in comparison with how much nayeah nayeah nayeah nayeah nayeah nah was going on in their life, it was just a little bit of time in the Vortex and most of the time not even trying to be in the Vortex. You get what we're talking about?

So when someone says I struggled to get in and I have a hard time staying in, it's only because you have not practiced it enough that the in the vortex vibration dominates. But when it does, oh when it does there will be a tipping point on the fulcrum of your life where things that you've been waiting for for what felt like a very long time will come, and they will come see easily you will laugh at the absurdity of your having held them away for so long.

Ya I was thinking that it had to be a natural thing to do even if you are not trying. It makes perfect sense but at the same time it just seems like a completely different feeling when you do it on purpose.
