This question comes from BridgetJones09. I have posted the questions here in order to give her an answer without being limited to 500 characters. She asked these questions here. Please feel free to answer BridgetJones09 with other insights you may have. These are the questions she asked. I don't fully understand I guess... Abraham is a 'spirit', or a group of 'spirits' speaking through Ester Hicks? Did she summon him/them? Does he/do them take possession of her to communicate their teachings? Isn't that practice called spiritism? asked 25 May '10, 09:49 Frank 1 |
Abraham is a convenient name for a collective consciousness that communicates through Esther Hicks. In my view, the word 'spirit', like the word 'God', is so misused and overladen with fear-based emotional baggage that it is better to avoid the term completely if you are genuinely trying to understand this concept. Abraham refer to themselves as a group for our convenience. There is no physicality in non-physical so it is just an artifical analogy that allows us to comprehend the idea of consciousness with different intents. In non-physical, since there is no location (location only exists in physical, remember?), consciousness gathers and disperses according to intent. It's a bit like you going to a party where your friends are, except you go there the moment you think of it and then you find when you get there that your friends are just different aspects of you. Hard to get your head around that idea from a physical point of view, isn't it? :) When people ask questions of Esther during a seminar, the question itself attracts through her different consciousnesses that are most in alignment with an appropriate answer. So the consciousness that we refer to as Abraham is always changing in response to the answer that is being attracted through Esther. You could say there is a core consciousness that you could term Abraham which consists of Esther's inner being and other inner beings that are in close alignment with her. You'd have to ask Esther directly for her own experience of what the essence of Abraham is.
Yes, she did. Over a period of several months, using meditation, she gradually aligned herself with the energy of Abraham.
Absolutely not - nothing can take possession of you or anyone else against your will. It defies the Law of Attraction to suggest this can happen. All that happens is that Esther acts as a translator at an unconscious level of blocks of thought that are offered to her. You can think of channelling as simply being the translation of these thought blocks that are received. So, like any translation, alot depends on the skill of the translator. This is why some channels (translators) produce complete garbage while others produce profound and inspiring wisdom. It is not the blocks of thought that make the difference, it is the human beings that interpret them. How do you know what is valid information and what is not? Simply by how it feels to you. Information that has value for you will feel good to you. Different information will have value for different people so just because someone channels information that you personally don't agree with doesn't mean it doesn't have value for someone else with a different set of beliefs about the world. I channel myself from time to time - though not verbally like Esther - I use a computer keyboard. It might help you understand a bit more clearly if I speak from my own experiences. What happens for me is that I simply sit down in front of my computer/laptop, and just gently rest my fingers on the keyboard. I am quite a fast touch typist so I can type almost as fast as I can think if I need to. After a while of sitting there with eyes closed and the intent of wanting to receive something, I can usually start to feel my consciousness expand...that's probably the best way I can describe it. And then when I feel locked on, I just start typing, usually at considerable speed and without any stopping until a topic feels complete. I then might pause for a while until I feel another topic presenting itself, and then I just type that out pretty quickly as before. During this time, I am very much me I can assure you! - definitely no possession going on :) But I feel so much bigger than me. In that state, answers to things I have been thinking about suddenly seem really obvious and many insights come easily. During this state, I feel incredibly uplifted and joyful. It is a wonderful state to be in. I am quite conscious of everything and can stop anytime I want. I haven't gone anywhere or been taken over, I'm just more of who I am. This state continues until I get a bit bored of it (I get bored easily!) and then I stop typing. While in the channelling state, what I am typing seems really obvious and trivial but reading through it afterwards, from my normal mundane perspective, it always seem quite wise and profound (to me, at least).
I don't know enough about spiritism to know what you would classify as spiritism or not. In any case, why does it matter what you call it? Just because Esther Hicks translates blocks of thoughts verbally while I use a computer keyboard to do my translating, it's still the same process. And people everywhere are doing it naturally anyway often without realizing it. I'm sure you've had many occasions when you've been totally absorbed in something. Time seems to just fade away, and you feel inspired to the best work you can do. Guess what?...that's channelling. :) Some people translate that inspiration through music, some through art, some through sports, there's no limit to the way that the communication between non-physical and physical can take place. Look around you...everywhere you'll see the results of channelling embodied in the greatest achievements of humanity. Bearing in mind what I said above about some channellers misinterpreting the blocks of thought that are offered to them, I thought the following channelling guidelines from the Kryon website would be appropriate to give this answer some completeness and provide some guidance in assessing the value of any channelled information. Guidelines for discernment when channelling

Your answer does clear up a lot about channeling that I apparently had misconceptions about. What you described sounds more like flow than "channeling": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flow_(psychology)

However, I have real difficulty with the "If it feels good, do it" metric. Addicts are the poster children for what can go bad when people just "do what feels good." And the world is littered with train wrecks of the lives of people who thought that they could live by their own emotional compass, but who lack the necessary discipline and maturity to do so productively.

@Vesuvius - In my mind and from my experience, flow is channelling. When people say they are in the zone, I believe they are using an incomplete sentence. It should be in the zone of myself...which myself is the Higher Self/Inner Being/Master Within, or whatever terminology you prefer. Regarding your if it feels good, do it point, why not ask it as a new question if it is something you are not sure about?

But then my question is, why people is cautioned against using the Ouija Board as it might atract evil or michievous spirits, while 'channelling' is OK and seem to attract generous and good spirits/masters? (I can post it as separate question if need be). confusedbridget.com

Yes, your guess is correct. They are a group of spirits' speaking through Ester Hicks
Esther did not summon Abraham. Abraham came to Esther. Esther and Jerry Hicks made a couple of appointments to a channeling session with a women called Sheila (approximately 1984). She channeled an entity called Theo. In the second meeting,Theo stated that the Hick's were channels also. In a 'clairaudient experience' Esther would be told who her 'spiritual guide' would be. They went home after the session and meditated as they were instructed to do. They did this 15 minute meditation everyday for nine months. After this time, Abraham revealed themselves to Esther. Abraham explained that they do not whisper words into Esther's ears. They offer blocks of thought's, like radio signals, which she receives at some unconscience level. She translates those blocks of thoughts into the physical word equivalent. Esther said, "I "hear" the words as they're spoken through me, but during the translation process itself, I have no awareness of what is coming, or time for recollection of what has already come. At the beginning of Esther's acquaintance with Abraham, they revealed to her, "I am Abraham, I am your spiritual guide. I am here to work with you. I love you. We will write a book together." This short summary was taken from the preface of the book "Ask and it is given". Pages xxi - xxvii
Yes. Absolutely. There is a physical possession that occurs. The entities come into the body and actually take over the physical aspects of the person or physical being (including animals). The physical aspect of a person's possession was explained by an entity called Equinox channeled by Joan (Jonee) Scibienski. She wrote: The actual mechanics inherent during unconscious channeling is that the soul or spirit of the medium, called "the vehicle" by Equinox, is either pushed aside or leaves the body. This makes room for the other energy to enter and use the body for a specific period of time. This shift of energy can take seconds or minutes, and for those capable of seeing auras, the shift can actually be seen. Often as the shift begins, the body may shake or quiver. This is particularly true when one first begins to channel. It can take weeks, months or years for the new energy to blend well and easily with the vehicle's energy. When Equinox was asked to explain the process of channeling, they stated that the physical body, like a car, is a vehicle run by energy, similar to the spark plug and battery. The car does not care whether the spark plugs or battery are Goodyear or Sears. It will work if the energy is igniting the correct voltage and continually flows. The human body will also operate with either the medium's energy or the energy of the channeled beings. As long as the energy is sustained and compatible, the body can be driven. It is learning to adjust how much energy the body uses that takes time and can cause the body to spasm. I am the channel or medium of Equinox. Except for the shaking of my body, I experience nothing except the desire to stare and then the reality that I have awakened. Time has elapsed, but I have no understanding of what occurred during that time. This process is known as unconscious channeling. Occasionally, Equinox will allow me to remain and observe. During those periods, I have the sensation of observing a conversation, but I am not able to participate. This is one form of conscious channeling. Because this makes me uncomfortable, I prefer to leave completely.
Yes it is. Definition and Philosophy of Spiritism According to the Gospel According to Spiritism, Spiritism is the new science which has come to reveal to mankind by means of irrefutable proof the existence and nature of the spiritual world and its relation with the physical world. Spiritists, or followers of Spiritism, believe that death is not the end of life and man continues to live as a spirit being who can communicate with those living in this world. After death man retains his character and qualities in the spirit world. This knowledge makes man rearrange his values and priorities in life by becoming less materialistic and tending more toward spirituality.
At this point, a warning should at least be given that you may know, compare, understand and finally consider. This is what I have found in my experiences, research and deductions that I have had over the years. As we have seen, a foreign spirit posseses a body (either by willingness of its host or by force). What does the bible have to say about entities possesing a human body? Only evil spirits possesed people. Jesus went around casting them out. In Deuteronomy 18:9-14 God warned not to practice certain customs. Among them was consulting with familiar spirits and necromancy (Definition: One who converses with departed spirits.) 9 When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. 10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, 11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. 12 For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee. 13 Thou shalt be perfect with the LORD thy God. 14 For these nations, which thou shalt possess, hearkened unto observers of times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, the LORD thy God hath not suffered thee so to do. According to the bible, man has a final destination. Once there, they can't come out. Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: Paul the Apostle said in 2 Corinthians 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. Luke 16:23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, ... 25 But Abraham said, ... 26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.**27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest **send him to my father's house: 28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. If the departed could contact us, the rich man in hell would have communicated with his brothers but he couldn't. After death man cannot be contacted. A familiar spirit is one that counterfeits or impersonates a person that already existed in this plane. That is why they are called a familiar spirit. Also note the similarities between the bible and channeled books. There are many books and videos that have been published thoughout the years by spirit beings, entities, spirit guides, etc. basically, non-physical beings. These non-physical beings needed a physical counterpart to have their ideas, thoughts, philosophies, teachings, etc. transcribed from the spirit world to this physical realm of this universe. Man (generically speaking) is the only medium by which this could have been accomplished. This information is greatly appreciated and received by man, i.e. those that are into the metaphysical aspect of life. Man's trust is quickly gained in the information that these beings supply, thus accepting, at one point, all that is said at face value without further proof. This would be alright if there wasn't anything to compare it to. How do you know if (whatever you're comparing) is alright? You will need a standard by which to judge it by. To quickly explain what I mean, 1) The only way a brick layer can determine if his wall is straight is by comparing it to a perfect standard. So, he uses a square, a level, and a plumb line. So if one says, "This wall is straight" but is off by 5 degrees according to the plumb line, who will you believe? 2) The only way you can know that you are being treated fairly when you buy a pound of anything is to set it on a scale that has been calibrated by the standard established by the government office of weights and measures. A pound is 16 ounces and an ounce is 28 grams. So if one says, "I sold you a pound of meat" but by comparing it to the scale that says, "14 ounces", you know you have been lied to. Question: What is the standard to judge spiritual things by? Answer: The bible. Just as (for example) the book 'Ask and it is given' was authored by Abraham though Esther Hick's (in a small amount of time), so was the bible authored by God though the 36-40 different writers in approximately 2000 years time. The bible itself proves to be the authority on spirituality and life. The proof God gives that he is the author, is the different things man has discovered in the last 500 years that have been written from between 2000 to 4000 years prior man's discovering it and the prophetic statements made before it actually happened. This in itself has not been matched in any other book (to my knowledge). Now, there are universal laws that are explained in different words but are exact in nature in both sets of texts. Eg. The mechanics of the workings of this universe i.e. asking, manifestation, prayer. Basically getting our desires on this plane. Where the texts differ is 'what actually is on the other side of this existence or plane'. Is there a personal, separate entity called God or is it Source, infinite intelligence, oneness of conscienceness from which all things stem? Is there evil, Satan, sin, hell, etc.? one book says yes, the other says no. Different ideas of the after life, they are in direct opposition to each other. Question: Why would one book warn you about evil, Satan, sin and hell while the other disavows it? Why would one book warn you about something that didn't exist, unless it did, while the other makes light of it? Why is there a redemption plan in the bible while the other negates it?? Consider: John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. Why would the bible go through great lengths to warn you (mankind)? 2 Corithians 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them A final point. Much of what these (evil) spirits mention through these channelers are 100% correct. This is what draws the masses to them. So, when Abraham and the other spirit teaches mankind something, don't they (who follow them) by faith take it all in? Believing all they said, hanging on to every word and thought spoken? Of course you do. You have probably put put many things they taught you to the test and it works. I believe you. I read and heard what they said. I've checked it out to. The amount of truth they give is incredibly accurate. Then there is that little lie. These demons, devils, whatever you would like to call them will always give you 99 truths to deliver their one lie. They do it any way they can. Be it through channeling or by whatever means. Question: A man drinks a glass of poisonous water. What kills him, the glass of water he just ingested or the one drop of poison that was in the water? You see, the water is just the carrier for the poison. It just takes one minute drop to get the job done. Demons will feed humanity 99 perfectly solid true statements to deliver that one fatal lie that will destroy them. The truths they speak is a carrier for that one fatal lie. If you ask a liar if he is a liar, will he tell you the truth? answered 25 May '10, 10:19 Frank 1 Thank you for sharing your point of view, Frank. What you seem to be suggesting here is that people cannot trust their own feelings as to what is valid information (or not) because of these evil demons who are out to trick us for some reason. But, to me, it seems that you believe what you believe because it feels right to you. This seems contradictory to me. Abraham, indeed, teach that inner guidance is the only true guidance. Isn't it rather self-defeating for evil demons to teach self-empowerment?

" Demons will feed humanity 99 perfectly solid true statements to deliver that one fatal lie that will destroy them" - seems Abraham has delivered more than 99 perfectly solid true statements, just curious as to what you perceive that one fatal lie to be?

When Christ was asked if he wasn't possibly doing the devil's work by going around doing good, he said, "A house divided against itself cannot stand." I agree with Stingray, that it would be divisive and self-defeating for demons to give really good advice about inner guidance and about being responsible for our own happiness.

I do not believe in demons. I think we need to take responsibility for our lives and if there is a demon it is within ourselves and we can root it out with positive thoughts.

You're welcome BridgetJones09, glad to be of help. I have shared with you my 'findings' of information I have gotten over the years. As you may see there is a vast number of opinions out there. Whose right? You'll have to make your decision on the info you receive. Just like a judge in a courtroom. One thing I've learned is that "seek and you will find."

Frank you are telling the truth that there are demons in this physical world and some dwell within human beings causing them to do terrible things to them selves and other people. Remember back in the bible when Jesus Christ cast demons out of people and even cast demons out of this guy in the cemetery he has so many demons when they cast them out they were called legions for they were so many and the demons asked son of God what do you want with us and Jesus had them to be quiet and they ask to be cast into swine and than the swine ran off a cliff. People must pray for understanding!

Anonymous 2009 Three years ago, I got involved with Esther Hicks and the Law of Attraction, and it turned out to be one of the biggest mistakes of my life!! I mediated and asked to know who my spirit guide was as instructed by the many cd's and dvd's I purchased. I didn’t find a loving, gentle spirit guide as described by Ester and Jerry Hicks. What I encountered was a demonic spirit from the gates of hell!! I have been dealing with this evil spirit since last summer and it was the Angels from heaven that let me know that I had allowed the devil take over my body and not a spirit from the heavens above. Yes, this demon would communicate with me through head nods, writing, and then with the computer. I have been invaded sexually, pain was inflicted on me once I found out it was a spirit from hell sent here to destroy me. If anyone is part of this new age movement and practicing metaphysics, the law of attraction or following Abraham, I would suggest that you please stop because I have been literally going through hell and I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy. I am now a born again Christian and the pastor from my church have prayed over me several times to get the spirit out of my body and to release it back to the fiery pits of hell where it came from. The presence isn’t as strong as it was in the beginning because it knows that I no longer fear it but it still tries to shape my thoughts. I know that as long as I keep God “from the heavens” first in my life this demon will eventually go back to the very hell I drug it out of. Esther and Jerry Hicks don’t tell you that mediation will take you into another spiritual realm which is dark and not of light. answered 01 Jun '11, 23:59 Practicing meditation, spiritual work of any kind without under direct guidance of a trained master is very dangerous.mind it.

I've been listening to Abraham since the mid-1990s. It is no exaggeration to say that I've listened to many thousands of tracks and I have never heard them suggest on "many cd's and dvd's" that you should find out who your spirit guide is. But, assuming this is a genuine answer, and not just trolling, if one is to follow your argument then if someone has problems while learning to drive their automobile then that means we should all stop driving our cars. A final point, meditation and prayer are basically the same alignment process just with different intents. Something to think about? ;)

Most people are possesed by demon/Psychic bodies of other living or dead people.which blocks them to decide independently.they feel that they are not themselves but the other one.i will try to give some exercises to get rid of such possesing bodies so that one can get back his original personality.
