Is this just an illusion of happiness or is it because I have bills to pay? What is the relationship between money and happiness? Would my happiness be tied to money if I didn't have bills to pay or food to buy or kids to support? What are your thoughts? Thank You.

I think its the sense of Freedom combined with the illusion of security that we experience when having more money or making more money. The more monetary wealth we have, the greater Freedom we have to do what we want when we want.

Hi Satori, So, money buys more freedom and to a certain extent I agree, but tell that to the forest people living in Papua New Guinea. I think for me it's the feeling of being a valued member in society. What if I had all the money in the world and didn't have to make money. I think I would happier still making money being a valued member in society verses laying on the beach all day. Thank You

@Brian - Well said and I agree. I would be happier being a valued member of society, in other words being a service to others rather than just doing nothing. Thanks:)

@Brian - I'm not so sure laying on a beach all day is such a bad thing. :) When I went to a coffee house in a small mountain town and sat outside in the sun smiling and sipping coffee and saying good morning to anyone who would make eye contact with me, it actually drew a crowd. One couple came up and told me specifically that I was such a picture of happiness and contentment that people...

... around the town circle were flocking over to enjoy the beautiful morning with me. True story. Just being me (I love that little town, my happpiest place on earth :)) and letting my little light shine bright is really all the service needed, in my opinion. It made at least a dozen people that I know of feel very happy that day, anyway. ;) http://www.inwardquest.com/questions/62285/does-participation-in-the-inward-quest-site-fall-in-line-with-the-concept-of-service-to-others/62298

(16 Nov '12, 09:30) Grace

@Grace I heard the other day something about holding a high frequency being a service to others - to show them what is possible. I know I feel better around people who are feeling good.

(16 Nov '12, 10:53) Catherine

@Catherine - Yes, I think that I may have read about this many years ago in Sanaya Romans's books with Orin and DaBen.... Maybe Living With Joy or Opening to Channel? I think you mentioned reading one of these? There apparently are folks who make this their life's work of service. I couldn't lay claim to any such unselfish thing, but I do thing we all help each other, don't we? Another great excuse to do what makes you happy. :)

(16 Nov '12, 12:58) Grace

Couldnt agree more.FREEDOM ,thats the end result we all want.

I agree with Satori about the freedom aspect of having money. Without money, there are fewer possibilities in one's life and in fact many limitations. And there is a freedom from worry as well when one has enough money. If the car breaks down, it is easily replaced, just as one example. If one gets sick, there is plenty of money for the best medical care. Travel is possible any time one needs or wants to. And worry is also removed by the bills being paid in full and on time. One gets into the flow or vortex very easily in this way, and then more good comes their way.

My opinion would be that you have a strong belief that happiness and money are interconnected. There is nothing at all wrong with that because a high percentage of us in this world have this same strong belief. Most of us were born with this belief and raised to believe that it is the only true means to happiness.

The fun thing about money though is...we get to decide how it works for us in life, and that idea includes the emotion of happiness or unhappiness.

Would my happiness be tied to money if I didn't have bills to pay or food to buy or kids to support?

Money is your current path to least resistance. It is a concept that you trust in and have confidence in.

If you are truly feeling good about making money and knowing that it will come to you easily and effortlessly, then I would say keep on doing what you are doing and feel happy about having money. If it turns into a feeling of lack or urgent need then the happiness will have obviously subsided.

Money is simply just a Permission Slip as Bashar would say. Just like giving a permission slip to your school teacher from your parents. The slip is putting you in the mode of Allowing. It gives you (as the young child in school) the feeling that what you are doing is okay, you can now relax, and you are allowed to release the resistance of something not happening or working out in a negative way.

So you are just allowing the concept of money to be part of and intertwine with your idea of how physical reality on earth works at this timing.

Try to stay away from labels like "They" as @ursixx mentioned. Don't allow the beliefs of other people into your unique reality. You get to decide what labels and definitions you put on words and ideas. It doesn't matter what "they" say or "I" say or anyone else says about the idea of money and the combined emotion of happiness.

It only matters what you say, think, and feel about the idea of money and happiness.

So be the Master Creator that you truly are and decide if you think your happiness would be tied to money if you didn't have the obligation of bills and support of your children.

I heard in a recent channeling (not sure who or which one at the moment) that we are either the only species or one of a very species in the universe that uses the monetary system of exchange. So in my opinion, there was a good reason that each of us wanted to incarnate on this planet when we did. I believe we wanted to get a taste of what this money thing is all about and be here to witness the time when we completely trust in ourselves and don't need to use the system anymore.

I think we will all get to a point eventually where money isn't needed anymore on this planet. It will be a tool of allowance that we no longer believe in or need to get the things we desire.

I believe once more and more people get to a point of holding a high vibration most of the time, and start manifesting things in an instant fashion without money, it will have a snowball effect on the planet and everyone will start to do it. Then the tool that we once had called money will no longer be needed anymore.

If this tool called money works for you and gives you and your family joy and happiness in this now moment, then continue to use it to live the life you desire. Make your own positive definition for its use, appreciate it, and have gratitude for it, and allow it to serve you in the best way possible in whatever way you prefer.

Ask yourself "Who is THEY?" They are the naysayers.
They are the ones that say you can't ,won't, shouldn't this and or that.
I sense that it is not the gaining of money that is your worry it is the fear or lack of not having money that is at the bottom of it.Do you worry about the sun rising everyday? Replace your lack beliefs with the knowledge that money flows to you. In our modern society we can be constantly bombarded with with lack and fear thoughts about money. Unemployment, homelessness children that suffer from both. Do not accept this as your reality.Turn off your TV.
As Abraham -Hicks has as their motto "All is well"

Happiness is an internal quality; external 'things', nothing, and no things can and will quickly reveal its presence or absence. In light of Eternity, each of us must determine what happiness 'is'.

No happiness cannot be bought however, money makes you feel safe and secure. It is an assurance that you have no financial worries. With no financial worries you never need worry can I afford this? Will I have enough to pay my bills or should I put this back and get something cheaper?

Money gets you the freedom to be financially worry free so you can be happy.

You don't "Make" money. You allow it into your life. When you are allowing, you are in touch with the universal Source, and that feels good.

Money is just a medium for exchange. It represents our goods and services. It is only a form of energy. For example, you want a computer and it would make you happy. You had a box of apples and exchanged it for a computer, you are now happy because you received what you wanted. However, society thinks that we need to sell the box of apples first for money and then take that money to purchase the computer.

Money doesn't buy happiness, but it sure does help to enjoy it.

it is the same has playing monopoly, it is a game invented by man,to try to solve some duality and inequity,so every one could work and have food and material stuff and equal opportunity.the real question looking at today world in the now is is it working? is it equal for every one? is every one working? is every one having the same food and material stuff? are the duality and inequity fix? how can a man that is rich not help other man that are more poor then him and that work alot more then him? or some that do not work? how can that man that is rich look at him self in the mirroir every morning? in the system invented by man you need money to buy stuff and live or survive, buy food material stuff service etc...that is why you are happy.you might feel also happy to have done a good job. and you might consider that you deserve it because you did your job. and the more money that you have the more you can have in this world. and you are happy you have your reward.but you will not take this money with you once you die and the flesh returns to the dust.what will you bring with you? so you see it helps to have money but it does not mean that it solve everything.you might be rich but if you are not healty or suffer from something with no cure, what is money good for then? if you have money and are afraid to get kidnapped for ransome or are afraid that people will steal you or that your familly and friend like you only for your money and cannot be trusted and think about that every second of your life, are you really happy? you see money helps in the man created system, but it does not necessarely make you happy and it does not solve everything. i think i have told you the truth about the question that you seeked. i could have added some verse of the bible also that talk about money and happiness, example: "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Matt. 6:19-21

The ground of a certain rich man produced a good crop. He thought to himself, "What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops."

Then he said, "This is what I'll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I'll say to myself, 'You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.'"

But God said to him, "You fool! This very night your life will be demanded of you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?"

This is how it will be for anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God. -- Luke 12:16-21

Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." Matthew 19:24

so let there be light be the light that you can be experience and enjoy.

priorities to focus
on money, not uncommon
in our present day culture

wait awhile and see what
else your decisions bring home
then you may reflect on
