Why is it that before I was introduced to the term law of attraction I seemed to ask for a certain type of girl or a certain amount of money and I got it? Now listening to all the formal steps, I sometimes seem to struggle, am i trying too hard?

As Rani Oberoi has already said, you may now be noticing more (with a formal approach) that you don't have what you want yet...though it's difficult to give you a more precise answer without knowing more details about your situation.

The alternative to forgetting about what you want (as Rani suggests, and as Manifesting Experiment 1 suggests) is to feel appreciation for what you want instead.

This works also because you cannot feel appreciation and lack (for what you want) at the same time.

This is actually the fastest way to manifest what you want.

However, the problem with that approach is that, initially, most people are not very appreciative for much in their lives, especially when they don't have what they want yet. So you end up in a Catch 22 situation there because people want the thing first in their reality before they will be willing to appreciate it.

In the end it's usually just easier to tell people to forget what they want and let it come in its own time.

Your question highlights a danger of using a systematic approach to manifesting. You end up doing the process because you want the thing instead of doing the process because it is fun and enjoyable to do the process. And, by doing the process that rigidly, you stand in your own way.

Manifesting-Experiment-1, with its emphasis on only writing requests when you are feeling good and then forgetting about them afterwards, is an attempt at a systematic approach that tries to be less rigid while still being effective.

Why do you think that you are struggling? My question is: are you being too hard on yourself? What has changed for you specifically, since you started listening, and applying the steps of the law of attraction?

Personally, I think you need to look at what you have been doing that is different, because based upon my experience, you have to be doing something to get back something in return. You have to take action, give to get, and of course you have to be patience.

Plant the seed, give it food, and wait, and watch it bear fruits, and the law of attraction is as simple as that. It will attract to you, what is best for you, and it may not come in the given time frame, or the specific amount of money, or person, or thing, but if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed... You can rest assure, your desire will manifest for you. Believe in it, and it will come to you, when you least expect it, and sometimes, in ways that you would least expect it. But most important you have to learn to trust the universe to manifest for you! Good luck.

I think the reason you might be stuggling more now might be because whilst trying to follow the formal steps to reality creation, you are giving more attention to what you want in the process of applying these steps.

Although giving your attention to the thing you want is not detrimental, when most of us do it for long enough, we start to notice the lack of the thing we want which introduces resistance as far as the Law of Attraction is concerned. This resistance stands in the way of us getting what we want.

That is why for most of us, a technique whereby we make our requests and then completely forget about it, works best which is what the manifestation experiment 1 on the site is about.
